N. Rashed Chowdhury is an independent filmmaker and film activist from Bangladesh. He is one of the founder Directors of the Dhaka DocLab- a South Asian Documentary Film Market and pitching platform in Bangladesh. Rashed has been involved with Bangladesh Short Film Forum- the pioneer activist organization for independent cinema movement of Bangladesh, since the early ’90s. He had been an active participant of the Film Society movement of Bangladesh, initiated during the sixties. Rashed has made short films and documentaries that were screened in various international film festivals and at the national levels. As former President of Bangladesh Short Film Forum, he led the alternative film movement & worked twice as Festival Director for the `International Short & Independent Film Festival, Dhaka’ - organized by the Forum biennially. Rashed has recently completed his first feature film: Chandrabati Kotha (aka-The Tales of Chandrabati) that had earlier won the `National Filmmaking Grant′ for a feature film. Rashed is currently working as Mentor and Decision Maker for various Global filmmaking platforms.
