Mushfiq Mahbub Turjo


Mushfiq Mahbub Turjo is an artist and image-maker who works on the medium of photography based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Turjo works on collage, painting, combining on and over images and on darkroom. He is practicing in this medium for more than four years and has finished his education of three years photography program from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. he had completed his higher Graduation at Danish School of Media and Journalism with a scholarship named 'Shahidul Alam Grant, 2019' funded by renowned Photo agency ‘Agency VII’. Currently, he is doing his “Masters in Documentary and Photojournalism (online)” from “University of London Arts” with a scholarship from “Agency VII”.

Turjo has established his skills over the time through his studies in Pathshala by attending several workshops titled ‘Story Telling’ 2015 in Dhaka, ‘Do Make Say Think’ 2017 in Dhaka arranged by Chobimela and pursue scholarship to attend ‘Master Class Workshop’ in Delhi Photo Festival, 2015. He had attended the Oslo Reportage Photography Workshop in China, 2018 with scholarship.

His work also had published in "NEW ERA" (2018) a book contains 23 stories told by photographers from Bangladesh, Norway, China and Nepal. In 2019 he published a magazine called “Nest” funded by DMJX collaborated with 9 other photographers from 8 countries.

Turjo had exhibited his work in Chobimela X (2019), 6th Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism (2018), Germany; Dok festival (2018), Norway and LL7(2018), Cox’s Bazar; exhibition on Sound and Image (2017), Pathshala-Dhaka, Magazine Exhibition (2019), Aarhus, Denmark.

He has been nominated for “6*6 Global Talent Program- World Press, 2019" and shortlisted for “Alexia Foundation Student Grand, 2019”  

Currently, Turjo is working as a Teacher’s Assistant at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.
