On the occasion of celebrating 24 Years of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, we cordially invite you to the opening of exhibition - ‘Interim’ curated by Pathshala Faculty Sarker Protick & Project Inertia at DrikPath Bhobon on 28 January 2023. Renowned artist Dhali Al-Mamoon and founder of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute Dr Shahidul Alam will inaugurate the exhibition.


A wonderful opportunity to get your portfolio reviewed by the World Press Photo Asia Jury 2023 on the occasion of the 24th-year anniversary program of Pathshala. 

Date: 31 January 2023 (Tuesday)Time: 3 PM-5 PMVenue: DrikPath Bhobon, 16 Sukrabad, Panthapath, Dhaka.

The review sessions will allow photographers from Bangladesh to share their work with the World Press Photo Juries and get critical advice and guidance. A fifteen to twenty minutes one-to-one session with the reviewer may provide participants with networking opportunities and help shape their work to develop further.

Interested applicants are requested to submit their journalistic work/portfolio for a selection review. A portfolio may consist of 12-15 images (single story, multiple stories, documentary project) along with text/descriptions. Image specification: Jpeg (2000 pixels on the longest side), no image compression.

Beyond the Catchphrase: Curating the Contemporary
Chinese Photography

Yining He is a curator, writer, and researcher of visual arts based in the UK and China. In curatorial practices, she specialises in uncovering contemporary visual arts practices and weaving them within a dual vision of politics and visual culture. She has curated more than 40 theme exhibitions for museums, art institutions, and photography festivals across Eurasia, including the 8th Singapore Photography Festival: Future Known as Unpredicted (Singapore, 2022), BredaPhoto 2020: China Imagined (Breda, the NL) and the 3rd Beijing Photo Biennale: Troubled Intention Ahead (Beijing, 2018). Yining He will talk about her practices that focus on curating and publishing Chinese photographic and visual art in and beyond China. In this lecture, she presents three curatorial cases she has curated in the past in focus, including The Port and the Image I, II and III (China Port Museum, China), BredaPhoto 2020: China Imagined (Breda, the NL), and FORMAT 15 International Photography Festival: 50 Contemporary Photobooks from China 2009 -2014 (Derby, UK)Yining has been published widely in Chinese and English, including peer review journals, book chapters, sole-edited books, and exhibition publications. She is the editor of Floating Island: Journal of Photography and Visual Culture and served as a member of the peer review panel of OVER Journal. She will also talk about her publishing experience regarding the topic.
